Google Search Tip

I am aware of most of the basic methods to search on Google but I recently came across Google basics page with guidelines of different ways to search on Google. Like if you do not want the results on SERPs that are not related to your intent then insert minus symbol as prefix to the un-wanted term. For example, an user wants an SSL Certificate and he does a search by just typing in "SSL" without quotes. Then he will come across all the different variety of results including the one related to music such as Solid State Logic. if when an user types SSL -Music then result does'nt throw up the Solid State Logic website.

Google's Personalized Search

As Google is forcing personalized search results while the users are logged in to their Google accounts, in an effort to produce accurate results matching user's intent, there is a need to address all the SEO community around the world regarding this context.

From the Google announcement:

We have two main ways of personalizing your Google experience. First, you can customize products and services like the Google Personalized Homepage. Personalizing your homepage gives you the at-a-glance information that you care about—such as your latest Gmail messages, news headlines, or to-do list—right at your fingertips, just the way you want it.
Second, we offer automatic personalization through things like personalized search and recommendations. Our goal with these types of technologies is to make your Google search experience better based on what we know about your preferences, without you having to do any extra work.

Today, we're taking another step toward making personalization more available to you by combining these two into a single signed-in experience. Now, when you're signed in, you'll have access to a personalized Google—one that combines personalized search results and a personalized homepage.

The way Google is tweaking its algo to make the SERPs personalized, an SEO need to understand the way Google displays the results. Further more, every SEO need to take a deep breath and think little inclined towards the User's perspective in terms of optimizing a website.

Moreover, even when Google wants to guage users intent through their account, I would like to list out few points where an SEO can have an edge over their competitors:

Anchor phrases relevant
Alt tags

These three may be the basic points among other search engine friendly factors that need to be focused. Happy Optimizing!
