Wikimedia Foundation, the official organizer of Wikimania 2009 Buenos Aires, is offering a limited number of scholarships to help attendees defray the cost of attending Wikimania 2009.
Wikimedia 2009 Sponsorship Application
Here is the application for sponsorship for attendees of Wikimania 2009, Wikimedia's international conference. This is not a scholarship for university study.
Attendees can click on the link and apply for sponsorship and avail a chance to attend the conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina This is for a limited number of scholarships to help attendees defray the cost of attending Wikimania 2009.Who is eligible?
- Any active contributor to a Wikimedia project or any active volunteer is eligible.
What expenses are covered
Expenses to attend Wikimania 2009 Buenos Aires that are eligible for the scholarship award:
- Travel costs to and from Buenos Aires.
- Registration fee for Wikimania 2009 (includes access to all sessions, lunch on meeting days and access to the party)
What expenses are not covered
Expenses to attend Wikimania 2009 Buenos Aires that NOT eligible for the scholarship award:
- Accommodations (hotel)
- Daily allowance for meals or incidental expenses
- Local transportation
Timeline
- April 8, 2009: Scholarship applications made available.
- April 30, 2009: Deadline for submission of applications (at 23:59:59 UTC).
- May 15, 2009: Notification of scholarship awards.
- May 22, 2009: Deadline to accept award.
- May 30, 2009: Notification to those on waiting list of scholarship awards.
Disbursement of Scholarships
Transportation costs will be paid for directly by the Wikimedia Foundation through a travel agent. After awards are given, coordination will be handled by a member of the Scholarship Review Committee.
